What are you using as a “free” antivirus? I have the free version of Avast - have had it for 5 years - never had a virus get past it though several have tried. When it completes a virus scan, I know my computer is free of virus. NOT spyware, virus.

Also if you download just a random virus scanner it will state you’ve __ viruses and than it will install viruses, not remove them.
