hi jeeral, do you notice how you’re getting different answers for your best protection the reason for that’s some belives in norton while others belives in mcafee most of the virus protection is a lot alike both norton and mcafee has to register their software now i have just got a new computer and my virus is protection has avg free 8.0 it is a free download and i have vista 64 ultimate even though i have a mcafee one year persciption and i explained this to the guy that built my personal for me and he told me that they keep my protection up to date so it is your choice. but let me explain what i know that can help you make the right choice each one has trojan and anti spy-ware if they don't they should. but you have already got the best anti-virus already when you see windows defender that’s a mighty powerful tool to fight viruses. so it boils down to how you maintain your computer and i am the best at giving advice on maintaining a personal and i am a nut about maintance so this can be your next question i will be looking for it but you’re smart about asking about virus protection. enjoy your vista and i will be looking forward to your next question cause i can make you pc come to life. good luck hope i have been helpful to you

Answer:
Just my thought. I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy a spyware killer for years. I’ve recently added superantispyware. They’re all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I’ve just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

Answer:
Norton is NOT free. Get avast! It is the only KNOWN FREE anti-virus giving users FULL PROTECTION against anything you can ever think of. Very rare to find a FREE anti-virus that gives FULL protection. avast! scores a virus-slamming 86% percent for detection rates. So go ahead and download that. Don't believe fools who say AVG Free is better.

Don't believe me?
