I needed to update my AVG antivirus so I decided to uninstall it and then begin from scratch. I installed AVG again but my security is showing it as ” spyware physician with antivirus “. Is this still AVG ? If not any good ?

It's AVG Anti-Virus 8. What I like about this version is that it has both the anti-virus and anti-spyware integrated into one package. It is very effective. If that's the version that you already have, then maybe it is correct. What operating system are you running? From the sounds of it, it sounds like you're running Vista. Vista is the only operating system out right now that integrates anti-spyware protection into its Security Center so ya. I could be wrong.. But if you are unsure of the software, then just re-download it from the link that I sent you and install it.

Are you using another program alongside it–alongside AVG? Which one?
If you downloaded the AVG directly from the site, it should be safe.
Just in case:
You should only have one (1) anti virus and one (1) anti spy/ad/grayware program running alongside it. If you have more than one of either running (two or three anti virus programs, or, two or three anti spyware programs) you may cause conflict and render them completely useless.

Security is a three tier affair, one firewall, one anti-virus and as much adware/spyware removal software as you feel needed?

- Download Spybot Search N Destroy and (Update) run a full scan.
- Download Superantispyware and (Update) run a full scan.
You can do a search for these.
You should only have one antivirus installed at a time. Having more than one antivirus program installed at once is prone to cause conflicts and might well decrease your overall protection as well as impairing the performance of your Personal computer.
