There are free alternatives to remove rogue software. Some rogue software can contain rootkits and AVG can’t detect rootkits(So I don't advocate AVG free)
To remove malicious software I suggest Malwarebytes AntiMalware

In some cases you need to download anti-malware in safe mode with networking(press f8 while booting)
Also sometimes you need to scan in safe mode, world wide web disconnected and system restore off

Spybot has a free version that will control spyware that wants to hijack your computer, too. You can go to download.com or majorgeeks.com, and get the top stuff for free–they even have reviews of the alternatives. I added Lavasoft's free firewall and pitched Bill Gates's stuf, and all these things have made my Computer virtually bulletproof for absolutely nothing. AND FINALLY, download Firefox and use it as your browser–it makes everything else look MickeyMouse.
