I've used AVG and some viruses seem undetected when I changed to Avira. Which is the guaranteed ideal in terms of virus detection and removal?
Answer:
If you really wish to compare all Antivirus programs out there, better try to install and test them all and see how they perform.
If you wish to have an overview as to how they compare based on current tests go to this site below as it would show you some concrete data which could help you decide which is the best.

Based on this site, AVIRA outperforms AVG by a small percentage. However AVG has a faster scanning rate. Both are good, stick to them.
I also recommend AVAST as it is also a top performer.
Answer:
AVG. I am sold on their program. I’ve an 11yr old computer tower with only 320MB ram. Both McAffee and Nortons was so massive, the hard drive never quits spinning at any point during use. With AVG, it takes minimal processor resources to operate, and the protection is on anytime windows is on. You don't even have to have the console loaded at startup for it to run or to perform it's nightly file scan. Right now, the only startup program in my msconfig window is msn messenger. It's a true set-it-&-forget-it type system.
I accidently went to a trojan site, and without the console in the side tray, it still intercepted and deleted the trojan that tried to install itself multiple times.
You can't get any better than that! Not for free!
I'll never pay another antivirus bill again.
Answer:
As long as Avira auto-updates for you as it should (better check your logs!), stick with it, because it does have the ideal detection rates of the free antivirus'.
However, Avira has always given me auto-update issues, so I use and suggest Avast. Avast's detection rates are second only to Avira among the free antivirus', plus it has rootkit detection and antispyware included in the free version… and it updates without fail.

Answer:
Avira has a more reliable detection rate than AVG. Avira has helped me a lot.
