I am using this antivirus software and i wanted to ask if it was safe to use such an old version of antivirus.
Answer:
It is still good at detecting old virus but newer virus are able to avoid detection from older Norton scan engine. Some can even disable Norton anti-virus by destroying some of the Norton's dll files.
My company use Norton & Symantec. Some of the older PCs still use Norton 2004. Even though the virus signature is up-to-date, the anti-virus is repeatly disable by the malwares. As an IT support technician, I’ve remove the virus using Clamwin portable anti-virus. Uninstall & re-install latest version of Norton in order to get it working again.
Answer:
as long as the virus database is up to date then yes you just don't have all the features that the new one has. though norton is a poor antivirus by todays standards it will proctect your Personal computer and is superior then nothing.
