I uninstalled Syamantec Antivirus to install Norton. The uninstaller was taking 5 minutes and was stuck at 14% the entire time so I closed it. Now Symantec isn't showing up on the add/remove programs list but it's still installed on my machine because I’ve it open right now. At this point I don't really care whether or not I have Symantec or Norton as long as I’ve something installed. What happened to my application? Did something screw up or am I still protected?

Install nod32 and go to nod321.com for user names and passwords to activate full version site gets updated daily.

Norton is rubbish. It is the worst anti-virus product currently on the market. At one time it used to be good - before Symantec took over. Norton acts more like a virus and entrenches itself deep into your system. The software will do more harm to your Computer than good and when you to to remove it, it leaves behind over 375 traces in your registry files/folders and subsystem. You have to download their removal tool just to get it off of your system. You are much superior off with a free anti-virus product.
NOD32 and Kaspersky are the ideal anti-virus applications and much superior than the ideal sellers Norton and McAfee (recent tests at av-comparatives.org). If you want a free anti-virus, AVG, Avast! or AntiVir all are superior than Norton (install only 1).

Maybe one or two files are missing. First repair or reinstall it. and then uninstall it. this shud work. no doubt.
