Anything else I should bee looking at to protect my personal?
Answer:
As of now I have the ability to think of only 4 AV's that are free:
Avira PE Classic, avast home edition, AVG Free, Comodo.
Because of the limited choice it's hard to tell which one is “best”. Well, Avira has the highest detection rate. Avast features spyware protection as well. These are two I personally like.
As to antispyware, only SpyBot and Spyware Terminator provide real-time protection for free. Others (AdAware from Lavasoft, SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebyte's, etc) work only as on-demand scanners.
Think about installing a firewall, too.
Answer:
Antivirus is Avira or AVG I’ve used both for years
antispyware is Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware, Ccleaner These programs have worked for me, along with Win Patrol, I’ve used these free programs for years and still use them on my windows systems XP and Vista. I use dual boots on my computers; that is Windows and Linux, nearly exclusively Linux Ubuntu is always booted. With Ubuntu installed and if your Windows system files corrupts you can still access your Windows files and use your personal using the Ubuntu boot. It is a good idea to surf in Ubuntu. In answer to your question the best anti spyware is Ubuntu on your system.
Answer:
I’ve used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy a spyware killer for years. I have recently added superantispyware. They’re all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just upgraded to AVG free 8.0 and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They have the ability to all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

AVG has both for you …
