Just got a new computer and want it protected. What’s the best free antivrus?

umm well for viruses it's most definately AVG free but Avast is also excellent, but remember viruses aren't the only thing that mess your computer up, spyware can be equally perilous, if i bought a new computer i would most definately install the following free spyware products:
1. Lavasoft's world class spyware and adware detector and remover - Ad-Aware Free 2008 (Unless you get Ad-Aware Plus 2008 through trialpay)
2. Spybot Search and Destroy (Europe's most famous and ideal spyware tool, this program cleans up all the spyware you got. Try downloading it from www.download.com or just Google it and look for the safenetwork site - i would advocate www.download.com, more trusted and safe.Spybot is certainly an astounding product, the scans go for about 45 minutes and clean up all the spyware and adware)
3. CCleaner (Ideal for a new personal, it cleans up all the junk in your hard-drive, makes a faster and much superior computing experince)
So for viruses, AVG free, Avast (if possible to get for free), Ad-Aware Free (or Plus), Spybot Search and Destroy (a must) and CCleaner.
But if your willing to spend money and really protect your computer, no 1 is ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite, and no 2 is McAfee Total Protection, no 3 would be AVG pro. ZoneAlarm Security Suite is the no 1 ideal on the internet, most definately, contact me if you want it, i can provide you with something you would want.
ALSO I MUST URGE YOU TO DO THIS: DOWNLOAD AND USE MOZILLA FIREFOX INSTEAD OF INTERNET EXPLORER. MOZILLA FIREFOX IS AMAZING, IT IS VERY SECURE AND PROTECTS YOU FROM MOST SPYWARE, IT ALSO RUNS FASTER THAN INTERNET EXPLORER. USE THIS AND VIRUSES AND SPYWARE WILL BE VERY HARD TO GET.

AVG is garbage! Avast is decent, but the best is Avira. It does has some annoying purchase prompt screen but is great.
