Is “Avast” good? If not whats the best?

Hard to say.
Get off your butt, do a search for what you want, install a few freebies and try 'em out. After deciding stick with what you like.
PS: Don't have two running at the same time. Deactivate one before you load another.

AVG the free edition is doing a good job on my comp, from Google now for 6 yrs and easy to operate. My compaq Presario with 512 MB is more than loaded and covers it all. Not That Avast is not good its just that I’ve never bothered to try it and I hear that it is the same as AVG > so take your choice. Good luck

Don't know Avast. I've been using AVG Free for some time now, and never had any issues. The newest edition is actually very user-friendly and seems to mesh much more smoothly with my system than previous editions. Check out www.grisoft.com, or just google “AVG Free”.
