I keep getting an abort message when trying to load the yahoo home page.So I ran a virus check and it found like 5 from Yahoo. What kind of Virus is this and can it harm my computer if I turn the antivirus off?
Answer:
I'm using Avast, and this problem showed up with the latest update. It states (on my alert) that the 'malware/virus' is www.yahoo.com/. It has to be a false positive. I changed my homepage to my.yahoo.com, and no problems. I'm sure it will be corrected very soon.
Answer:
Please Do Not Turn Your Antivirus Program Off. (you will be setting yourself up for all kind of viruse problems) You might need to try using another antivirus program or to make sure that your antivirus program is up-to-date. If this does not help, try uninstalling and then reinstalling yahoo tool bar. Good Luck

Hi AshleyMC,
Don't turn your AV off - you need it on. Maybe a false positive then, otherwise if you want to do a full scan for viruses/trojans and any other malware (e.g. Spyware/Adware) there's a guide that would be useful for you at http://MySlowPC.co.uk (click on “Troubleshooting”). It includes the links to the free tools you need (e.g. McAfee Stinger) and also a step by step guide to how to most effectively run them and find and remove infections.
Worth checking the previous info from posters relating to Avast on this one though.
Good luck!

Are you using Avast?
It appears to be a false-positive, but there’s no official word yet. (It is the middle of the night in the Czech Republic where Avast is made.) They’ll probably have some information on their Monday morning.
You can follow this thread at the Avast forum for further news:
